Re: jo yeates - Updated:Tabak charged with murder
I imagine the police would see testing the DNA of anyone known to Jo, and then matching this up with the crime scene and the current database, to be sufficient for their enquiries. The more I think about it, the more mad I think it is to suggest that they test every male in Bristol . As someone mentioned above, it's just politicians and public figures wanting to get their names into the media. There'll be more than enough DNA to test as it is. We know that this isn't a fast process (and, of course, samples unfortunately get destroyed when they're still needed ). I'm no policeman (I'm the wrong sex for a start - and I'm too short), but I'm convinced the killer will either have the DNA of someone known to Jo, or will be of someone who's already known to the police. I don't believe Jo was attacked by some random stranger, out of the blue, who didn't want to sexually assault her, and/or rob her.
I think all the stories that have been coming out since the landlord was released on bail are press-led from nosying around, or making things up. If you read any article since then, the only ones that seem to have any legitimacy to them are the ones referring to the missing sock, and Jo's mum wanting to be in the reconstruction. When I first saw a photo of Mrs Yeates I thought how much she looked like her daughter. They're like peas in a pod, apart from the age difference. I really hope that the police get a firm suspect soon, leading to conviction, as this limbo must be hell for her parents. Thank goodness that at least they were able to physically say goodbye in the end.

In the case of Jo I hope the person responsible will be brought to justice soon.
Unfortunately, we have, in the shape of Shrien Dewani, and his wife Anni . His problem is that he hired Max Clifford, not Clarence, and he doesn't seem to have the backing of wealthy people. If his business had been making millions in profits, rather than being in debt, he'd probably be sitting pretty now.

I think this sounds like the police know who there looking for and want more evidence and that person.

Yes, it would appear that they are as you say trying to put the wind up the perpetrator and/or perhaps someone backing up an alibi? The problem with dna is that unless there is no possible explanation as to why it should be where it has been found, it cannot be used to prove anything. If the police have examined the flat in such detail and only found dna which could be expected to be there, then it's very difficult. If the dna from the saliva found from the swab of her body has been identified and could reasonably be expected to be where it was found, it doesn't help either. Perhaps it's another case of no stranger dna being found which only proves that it is highly unlikely that a stranger was involved, but doesn't help to identify who was.

Joanna Yeates 'did not eat pizza she bought'
Joanna Yeates did not eat the pizza she was seen buying on her way home just before she went missing, police have confirmed.
By Andy Bloxham 7:00AM GMT 19 Jan 2011
Comment
Avon and Somerset Police said tests on Miss Yeates' body concluded she had not eaten the mozzarella, tomato and pesto pizza before she was found dead on Christmas Day three miles from her flat.
Detectives said Miss Yeates had made it home to her flat in Canynge Road, Clifton because her shoes, coat, mobile phone, purse and keys were found there - although the pizza, the wrapping and its box are still missing.
The final steps of the 25-year-old have been reconstructed for BBC's Crimewatch in a bid to catch her killer.
The landscape architect's journey started after leaving BDP where she worked.
She went to the Bristol Ram pub on Park Street in Bristol City centre, where she had Christmas drinks with work colleagues.
Miss Yeates spent around two hours socialising with her friends before leaving at around 8pm to make the 30 minute walk home to the ground floor flat in Canynge Road, Clifton, that she shared with her boyfriend Greg Reardon, 27.
She was seen on CCTV in a Waitrose supermarket at the Clifton Triangle and then went to a Tesco Express in Clifton village where she bought the pizza.
During the filming of the reconstruction the actress playing Miss Yeates entered the Tesco Express on Regent Street in Clifton village.
She was wearing the same cream-coloured coat as Miss Yeates was wearing on the night she disappeared.
She also had a black rucksack and was carrying two plastic bags - including a white bag, which held the bottles of cider she bought previously at Bargain Booze, and a black bag of which the contents have not been revealed, but which police say are not significant.
Inside the store the actress was filmed picking up the Tesco Finest mozzarella, tomato and basil pesto pizza and taking it to the till.
The pizza was paid for at a self-service till with a £10 note.
After receiving her change, the actress was finally seen leaving the store and heading up Regent Street towards Miss Yeates's home.
The BBC Crimewatch team spent an hour and a half filming at the Tesco Express before moving to another location to film earlier scenes from Miss Yeates's evening.
It is hoped the film will jog someone's memory who may have seen Miss Yeates as she made her way home on December 17.
The filming comes as Miss Yeates' parents made their first direct appeal since their daughter's body was found on Christmas Day in an icy lane three miles from her flat.
David Yeates, 63, and his 58-year-old wife urged anyone who knew somebody who had reacted strangely to the murder to come forward.
The couple, from Ampfield, Hants, asked: "Do you know someone who has been, somehow, justifying her being killed?
"Please help us identify the killer. Jo was probably acquainted with her killer."

Interesting 'take' on the parents' appeal by Martin Brunt of Sky - interesting comments by the 'armchair detectives' too.

Man Arrested Over Joanna Yeates Murder
Share
Police in Bristol have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of murdering landscape architect Joanna Yeates.
DCI Phil Jones, the senior investigating officer at Avon and Somerset Police, said: "I would like to thank the public for their continued support for the investigation and the information they have provided to us.
"I would also like to pay tribute to Jo's family and to Greg who continue to be unfailing in their support to me and my team at what is an incredibly difficult and painful time for them."
The 25-year-old went missing on December 17 after having drinks with work colleagues and walking home to her flat in Clifton.
Her body was found on Longwood Lane, Failand, North Somerset, on Christmas Day morning, sparking a huge police operation.

Yeates Police have reminded journalists of Contempt of Court act. Wonder if reporting will be more restrained than it was over last arrest?

Additional reporting from Sky:
The suspect was taken into custody early today and Sky's Katie Stallard says it is unlikely police will release his name to the public.
Earlier this week Joanna's parents Theresa and David Yeates appealed to the country's "armchair detectives" to help find their daughter's killer.
In a joint statement, the couple said: "If you do know something and you do not come forward you are consciously hampering the apprehension of Jo's killer and the perpetrator is still free."
Stallard says police have had 304 phone calls and emails since that appeal was made.

Joanna's last journey has also been filmed for a television reconstruction that will be aired on Crimewatch next week.
The 25-year-old went missing on December 17 after having drinks with work colleagues and walking home to the flat she shared with her boyfriend Greg Reardon, aged 27, in Clifton.
Her body was found on Longwood Lane, Failand, North Somerset, on Christmas Day morning, sparking a huge police operation.
The film focused on what she did after she left her firm, BDP, in Bristol city centre.
How Events Have Unfolded:
:: Dec 17: Miss Yeates leaves the Ram pub at 8pm to walk home.
:: Dec 20: Police make first appeal over Miss Yeates' disappearance.
:: Dec 26: Police confirm a body found on Christmas Day is that of Miss Yeates.
:: Full timeline of events.
She went first to the Bristol Ram pub on Park Street, where she spent around two hours socialising with her friends before leaving at around 8pm to make the 30-minute walk home to the ground floor flat in Canynge Road.
Seen on CCTV in a Waitrose supermarket at the Clifton Triangle, she then went to a Tesco Express in Clifton village where she bought a pizza.
Detectives said Miss Yeates had made it home to her flat because her shoes, coat, mobile phone, purse and keys were found there - although the pizza, the wrapping and its box are still missing along with Miss Yeates's ski sock.
On Tuesday night police revealed that tests showed she had not eaten the pizza before she died.

I just hope that they have the right person this time. It does sound like the police have had someone in mind but were waiting for more info from the public.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of landscape architect Jo Yeates.
Miss Yeates, 25, went missing from her home in Canynge Road, Clifton, Bristol, on 17 December after a night out with work colleagues in the city.
BBC News understands a flat being searched by police is occupied by Dutch national Vincent Tabak.
Avon and Somerset Police will not confirm whether Mr Tabak has been arrested.
Mr Tabak's flat is not the first in the block which has been searched by officers.
Police have also sealed off Aberdeen Road in Cotham, about a mile from Miss Yeates' flat.
It is not yet know if this is connected to the murder investigation.
Miss Yeates' frozen body was found on Christmas Day next to a country road in North Somerset.
A post-mortem examination revealed that she had been strangled.
Her father David said he was pleased with the arrest of a 32-year-old man.
Speaking at the family's home in Ampfield, Hampshire, he said: "We know as much as you do. We were told at 6am this morning that someone was arrested on suspicion of Jo's murder and their age."
Meanwhile, police have closed Canynge Road and put up scaffolding next to Miss Yeates's flat.
Officers closed Canynge Road and put up metal fencing at Miss Yeates's flat
Forensic teams have begun a search at an area at the back of the block of flats which has been covered up with green sheets.
BBC correspondent Jon Kay said they were searching a new area that officers had not examined before.
Miss Yeates was reported missing by her boyfriend Greg Reardon, 27, on 19 December when he returned to their home from a weekend away visiting family in Sheffield.
Her body was found six days later by dog walkers on a country road several miles away.
Detectives have said there was no evidence that Miss Yeates had been sexually assaulted but they have not ruled out a sexual motive.
Her body was found with a ski sock missing.
Avon and Somerset police have not revealed where the man was arrested.
Crimewatch reconstruction
It comes two days after a Crimewatch reconstruction was filmed tracing Miss Yeates's last steps.
Mr Tabak's flat is not the first in the block which has been searched
The reconstruction focused on what happened to her after she left her firm, BDP, in Bristol city centre.
She went to the Bristol Ram pub and then stopped at Waitrose and a Bargain Booze shop.
She then bought a mozzarella, tomato and pesto pizza from a Tesco Express store before returning home.
CCTV footage of Miss Yeates in all three shops was later released by police.
Detectives said she had made it home to her flat because her shoes, coat, mobile phone, purse and keys were found there.
The receipt for the pizza was also found there but no trace has been found of the food or its wrapper.
Tests have revealed Miss Yeates had not eaten the pizza before she died.
Miss Yeates's parents, David and Teresa, made a televised appeal for information on Monday in which they urged "armchair detectives" to help police.
The appeal prompted more than 300 calls to the force.
Miss Yeates's landlord Chris Jefferies, 65, was previously held for three days for questioning on suspicion of murder before being released on bail.

Surely there should be no part of the property that hasn't been under the microscope by now.

Just thinking out loud, but this guy was arrested in another flat or house in another road at six in the morning. I wonder who this flat belonged too?
The landlord owned a few properties, didn't he.
I just can't dismiss the LL yet.

Sky at lunchtime wouldn't say where he was arrested (which town or country). Joanna's parents were informed early this a.m. he is from Eindhoven I think. Maybe the arrest was there?
